A self-photo, usually taken with a cell phone and posted online to social networks is called selfie. Almost, all over the world, different people - from kids to celebrities - are taking advantages of Smartphones camera technology and slick photo editing applications (particularly Instgram) to not only show others what they're up to, but also look perfect while doing it.

Hmmm HeatherStone I'm also in the lane of Oprah, I've taken a few photos but didn't upload on social networks, that means I'm a "half-selfie".

I agreed that people are curious to know who they are communicating with, especially in the case of brands and companies.

Establishing a personal presence with selfies is a norm now, but personally I don't like too much selfies. What do you say is it a good idea to establish a social personal presence with selfies?

Hi Irfan,

Interesting stat about Oprah. It seems like selfie's, or at least self-portraits, are important in social media mainly because people like to know who they are dealing with. I think this might be even more the case in business. Do you see use of selfies in social media as a good or bad way to establish a personal presence?
