Very keen insight, as usual. I see what you've written happening here every day or two. Some of it's very good stuff, but not a good fit (from my own personal viewpoint, which is obviously of limited scope).
As for your analogy - I'm one of those who has never managed to fit in anywhere, though some places are a better fit than others.

I learned I was best suited to solo work by age 30 (looong ago). I like to talk to musicians, and listen to them play, but my forte is polyphonic improv. Another place I didn't fit in, so I made the best of it I could.
