As a writer, I know original content is the most powerful way to gain influence and establish your authority. I’ve always felt that providing consultation and practical advice is the best way to attract prospects and keep my clients happy. Lately, I’ve been feeling like something is missing in that equation. Guess what? It’s got nothing to do with content

Great post Sarah, I think you have nailed a profound definition here.

As a web & print designer I can absolutely identify with this angle, I often find I achieve my best results via collaboration with independent copywriters like yourself. Further, I am a big advocate for clients building up content "assets" as I have seen the benefit first hand. In my opinion, successful marketing is a sum of all parts, which includes: practical preconceived strategy, holistic planning, original concepts, idea's & words as well as inspired custom design.

I am truly excited by this concept!

Hi Ryan,

Thank you for your generous comments. I'm encouraged to hear this opinion coming from a web and print designer. Often designers and content providers compete with each other for client business, each trying to own a project and working in isolation. The people that really lose in this situation is the client. I would LOVE to see more true collaboration between content and design. If we can pull the two practices together, everyone wins - especially the consumer.

Like the word asset Sarah and good example with the use of curb.

I have often wondered why graphic designers and copywriters have not worked more together and I could not have imagined in my marketing days briefing an art director and copywriter separately for a TV ad.

Looking forward to reading about this area.

Thanks, Susan. What I'm finding is when content marketers and graphic designers work together, the client is a big winner. Frankly, so is the writer because a headline can only do so much. Good design is more persuasive.
