Non-Japanese employees of Japanese firms frequently mention the penchant that many Japanese managers have for public criticism. Whereas Americans would prefer to receive negative feedback in private, Japanese seem to prefer to give it in public.

Great article! I think it's a good idea to put oneself in the other's shoes now and again, to get an idea of how we are communicating and how others receive that communication. These posts on Japanese business really serve as reminders to not take anything for granted. Thanks!
