According to the Department of Homeland Security, you may be a security idiot. The department ran a test this year in order to determine how easy it would be for outsiders (i.e. hackers) to access computer networks through social engineering attacks. Using one of my favorite social engineering attacks, they left flash drives and CD’s in government and government contractors’ parking lots. In an actual social engineering attack, the CD’s or flash drives would contain some type of malware or other attack programs that would launch when they were started or plugged in.
