In Defence of Business Plans

I think business plans get a bad rap. There’s a movement out there that says that business plans are a waste of time because they can’t accurately predict the future. For this reason, these people will tell you to not bother doing one. They’re missing the bigger picture.

All the great battlefield generals had to adapt to changes as they occurred - by regularly visiting the front (not by sipping coffee 100's of miles away).

Anyone who says a business plan is not necessary is crazy,though you can't base a business plan on everything being perfect. A good business plan will be realistic and all of the numbers will be true worst case scenarios. The most important part of a business plan is goals because they provide growth in small increments to meet them.This is what gives your business direction.

Can you be successful without a business plan? Well certainly and you could also hit the power ball lottery too,but without one it's less likely that your business will stick to a given path that will lead to prosperity.
