Are you one of those who feel there is no more need for a physical interaction with our customers?

Do you really think social media engagement can take the place face-to-face interaction with our customers?

You may be wrong after all; here is why!

I agree with your points Heather, Nothing can exceed face to face interactions and just as you said, the main essence of social media is to build relationship in a situation where its not easy to meet with the person face to face. Thanks Joseph for sharing this with the bizsugar community.

Val, thanks for adding your contribution. It is really not easy for social media engagement to take the place of face-to-face interaction with customers. It is only preferred in some cases because what we desire is not available. Where it is easily available, everyone would quickly choose face-to-face interaction over social media engagement.

Thanks once again for your valuable contribution. God bless you. Do have a blessed week.

Hi Celina,

Interesting points. I'd agree that social media should not replace face-to-face interaction...when possible! An important benefit of social media seldom discussed is its ability to build community where face-to-face is not possible, over long distances. I'd argue this kind of situation is where social media becomes most powerful not as a replacement for face-to-face interaction in your home town. Thanks to Efoghor for sharing this with the BizSugar community. Love to hear your thoughts too.

Heather, The purpose of social media is to create a community where people that share the same opinions could come together even though they are thousands of miles apart. This medium enables virtual contact to take place where getting in physical touch is impossible.

However, seeing your customers face-to-face and discussing with them, observing their body language/gestures, being able to watch their emotions or reactions is a thing that social media cannot provide. So, where possible, face-to-face interaction should be preferred over social media. But where this is not possible, the social media should be able to provide something close.

Thanks once again, Heather, for your usual contributions. Your valuable contribution is a plus. Do have a lovely week.
