Even with social media on the rise, SEO is not dead

With the increase in the number of people using social media to help increase their online presence some have said there will be less of a need for search engine optimization (SEO), but at the SES San Jose conference this week the assessment was that SEO is not dead.

SEO seems to be more important - there is more and more information being dumped on the web and using good SEO is about the only way for a small player to be found.

Reading the stories around Twitter search and Facebook search gives an added dimension to SEO, or a depth of understanding. The way how people talk about SEO today is different from how people talked about SEO a couple of years ago.
