Great post, Efoghor. And thanks, as always, for sharing it with the BizSugar community. I wonder if you could make some suggestions connected to your last point. It's important to stop trying to imitate others and find your own voice, but what's the best way to do that? Any concrete steps others can take to develop their own style and their own audience? It would be great if you could respond in the comment section on BizSugar so that our whole community could get the benefit of your thoughts on this.

Heather, Thanks once again for your comment.

I would say the few steps to finding your voice include:

1. Stop writing like another person; don't try to be another John Chow, Darren Rowse or Pete Cashmore, just be yourself. Write like you would normally do when you are conversing with someone in your natural tone.

2. Use your own humour whenever it is necessary to be humorous

3. Experiment with the various writing patterns that come into your mind as you prepare your posts.

4. Take note of whichever pattern worked well and how much comments/sharing it pulled from your readers. Consolidate on those patterns that are getting your readers engaged. That is your real self and the good side of you that your audience want. Develop it and try a change once in a while to see if adding another thing would alter the engagement level. If engagement reduces then go back to the best pattern identified and stick to it.

5. Develop your writing skills along the path you have identified and make it better.
