Learning to be a bit more ruthless and focused in this area is certainly great advice for me.

Could you expand on something for me if you have time? You give the example of most activities focusing on getting more customers but a few focusing on getting customers to buy more often. Would you say there is something inherently wrong with pursuing both these objectives at once?

It is not wrong, it just depends on what is the most important focus for your business. The problem with trying to do both is that tactics can be different and it would take more time and money.
We all need new customers as some customers whether we like it or not will leave and you need to fill the gap. The key point I guess is I see many businesses look for new customers when they haven't done all they can to nuture the relationship with current customers.
That includes looking at how they can buy more often and buy more. What they do instead is just go after new customers, ignore or wait for current customers to come to them which is more time consuming and costly.
I hope this helps and if you need more information, just send me an email.

Great article. Love the photo and your disclaimer: "Let me assure you no real violence takes place."
Exceptional advice as always! Hope the floods "Down Under" were far away from where you are!

Thanks for your comment and I actually enjoy finding the right picture. Luckily I don't live near any of the flood areas. Do feel sorry for our farmers, first drought and now floods.
