“The underlying assumption of Theory of Constraints is that organizations can be measured and controlled by variations on three measures: throughput, operating expense, and inventory. Throughput is money (or goal units) generated through sales. Operating expense is money that goes into the system to ensure its operation on an ongoing basis. Inventory is money the system invests in order to sell its goods and servicesâ€
Infrequently, silent problems could be contraint related, however, most of the time, there isn’t a correlation. In most instances, silent problems have a tie back to emotional intelligence, since the reason we avoid many problems has an emotional connection. For instance, many avoid conflict and consequently problems that require confrontation to solve often grow silent (avoided or neglected) over time. In fact, there are a host of reasons I discuss in my book regarding why we avoid, which is void of contraint limitations.
