Another fascinating article on the differences in perspective between American and Japanese business/tech culture. As I read it, I have to admit (as an American) it would be difficult for me to flourish in the Japanese environment. All my excitement and creativity would be dampened, and my morale would sink. But obviously Japanese tech and engineering are great, so it must work for them. Time will tell if the cultures will synthesize in business, or if one perspective will win out over the other. But I have to say, most of what the article characterizes as the Japanese perspective goes against the individualism of the West. Hmmm...food for thought, though. Thanks for another great post!
