Great and very comprehensive post on the subject. I agree completely. As a project manager for an international company, we provide services for an international clientele: 30 countries at last count. The one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn't work. You are write about quotes, idioms, etc. sometimes they are unfamiliar and sometimes they get lost in translation.
