Social media seems to be a really great way to launch a book. Seen a lot of this lately and think it's an important trend for anyone interested in publishing to watch. Of course, money isn't the only issue. It's also visibility. I think a large reading audience already committed to buying a book when it comes out gives you considerably more pull even if you work with a traditional publisher.
