I think the answer to this question really varies from individual to individual... Is it possible to get real-world, business knowledge while staying within the protective, university "bubble"- for sure! For example, many major colleges and universities have on-campus small business development centers and business incubator programs.

On the other hand, there are some people who NEED to leave college ( or not even attend in the first place) in order to focus their energies on their business ventures... If this weren't the case today we wouldn't have Microsoft, Facebook, Apple, Wordpress, etc

Each person really needs to consider his or her own situation to find the right decision
