Negotiation is a common practice to strategy and business, given the shortages of resources and skills required for the achievement of a (or more) objectives! But to negotiate something of value, usually, requires a special set of skills and a mindset able to adapt quickly and respond to the volatile conditions of a current negotiation process.

Takis: You are welcome! I look forward to your review of the book! Do you have some book tips on the "fine art of negotiation"?

Takis: Thanks for your reply. Have you read Cross-Cultural Business Behavior: Marketing, Negotiating, Sourcing and Managing Across Cultures by Richard R. Gesteland? I read it as course material during my International Project Coordinator studies.

Dear Lyceum, sorry for the delay in replying. No, as a matter of fact, I haven't read it, but I have read a lot about cross culture interactions and "complex" systems! Thank you for the book suggestion though. I will check it!

Takis: Thanks for painting the picture. How would you say that the Mediterranean region is different from say the North American market?

There are various differences, reflect the different buying personas of people. The different characteristics reflected on their respected markets and on the way they buy & sell.

Takis: How has the negotiation culture developed in the Mediterranean countries?

The negotiation cultures in Mediterranean countries based on complex communication and take-give gestures until a final agreement! It derived under the influence of various (east and west) cultures and it is based on a continuous bargain until the two (or more!) parties, are satisfied! Of course this is an over-simplification, but you get the main picture.

Takis: As an experienced purchaser, combined with the understand of the philosophical idea of the trader principle, I have mastered the fine art of negotiation! :)

You ask important questions at the end of your post, and I would say: yes and yes!

"Question: Do you think you can use this negotiation process in your everyday transaction? Do you think you can practice this art of negotiation in your personal or professional life?"
