The problem with being a pragmatist, particularly when you make your living from working with startups, is it’s easy to be seen as a party-pooper. No one likes to rain on someone else’s parade when everyone is so excited. But, in many respects, it feels like the right place to be. It’s better to test, scrutinize, criticize and poke at a startup’s thesis and value propositions than simply buy into everything.
