I believe the research has shown that individual brainstorming is equal, if not better than, group brainstorming. In the event you do elect to use brainstorming in a group setting, some companies have began using electronic style brainstorming where participants enter their ideas into a database and they are discussed without anyone being judged or feeling they may look stupid or go against their bosses' ideas, etc. This process has greatly eliminated the issues commonly associated with group brainstorming.
