The trick for consumers of the new media is to take the time to try to determine who is & isn't trustworthy - who's writing from experience, and who is either actively researching & reporting, or just parroting other blogs (let alone making it up, or stealing articles).
That's a fearsome burden on the consumer, and as far as I can tell, it takes time to ferret out who's who. There are a few stars like Godin & Brogan who command attention, several real experts (like yourself) who I soon learned to trust, then the next rung where researchers try hard to get it right w/o any working experience in the field. Below that rung, it's very hard to believe anything - some are blogging to make money from blogging (which is fine - especially if they're entertaining or interesting), but the trust factor in terms of information is much less because they aren't experts on what they're writing about.
