This is an actual email that one of my SEO clients received a few days ago:

Hi

Efficient SEO brings an increase in online sales or leads. I hope this information may be of use to you, if not then I apologies for any inconvenience caused.

So, here’s a summary of my findings on your site:
- Your Google Page rank is 0/10

Hi “blank”. This was the first indication that the email might be spam. Getting the name of the website administrator is easier than conducting an SEO analysis. If the person had actually done what they had promised (i.e. “applied some research to your website before contacting you”), and actually shared some valuable insight, then I think it would have been a reasonable sales approach. But they didn’t. They wasted the prospect’s time.

A small business CEO/owner doesn’t have to be an SEO guru to hire the right SEO firm, but they do need to become educated enough to tell the “good” guys from the “bad” guys. Thanks, articles like this really help.

I get so tired of seeing this stuff as I'm sure do other SEO's who actually are trying to do the right thing for clients.
