Another statistic to study in the future might be the number of small businesses still in business after 20 years without a website. I think that would be interesting. In the ClickMinded SEO Training I completed, the topic of building an online reputation was discussed. I wonder what the numbers for small businesses still in business after 20 years without a well-rounded internet presence are going to be.

Jesse: 20 years sound like a good timeline. It will be easier and easier to create your own content online, and it will become even more affordable to outsource the work on a website in the future. As long as we are going toward a free market place, protecting individual rights.

Jesse: Thanks for providing the links! I will check them out! When do you think 100 percent of SMB will have a website?

No problem! That's a tough question but I couldn't see the majority - maybe 95%+ - taking more than another 20ish years. From 1994 - present we've seen exponential growth in both small business websites, blogs, and eCommerce, and we keep getting better tools for small businesses to easily create websites without having to know HTML/CSS/JavaScript. 20ish years would just be my intuition guess - how long do you think?

Jim: Could it really be the case that "55 percent of small businesses do not have websites."? This is a great opportunity for my favorite website and blog template, Squarespace.

Hey Lyceum, I referenced an article from AP (here: http://bigstory.ap.org/article/skip-website-some-small-businesses-still-do) where it cites a 2013 joint report by Google and Ipsos. Matt Cutts, head of the Google webspam team, also mentioned it in a recent post on Google+ (Here: https://plus.google.com/+MattCutts/posts/dqDiYpRMPPg) - hope that helps!

Hey Lyceum, I tried responding but I don't think I can include links in these comments. Anyway, I was referencing a post that AP circualted, which mentioned a joint report from 2013 between Google & Ipsos. Matt Cutts, the head of Google's webspam team, also posted about it. I'm including the URLs below but they are broken up (just join the http & :)
