How much does SEO cost? That’s the first question that comes to mind for people considering hiring for an SEO campaign.
The problem is that when you start searching online or start calling SEO agencies, pricing is all over the map.

Gary: I hear you and agree with your statement. Personally, I am not spending so much on SEO at the moment. Talk to you soon again!

All the Best,

Martin

The question is, with the recent changes that Google has implemented, are the prices for SEO services going to change?

I think SEO encompasses so many different activities that it is very difficult to price match or peg a number on. A web designer that uses Yoast SEO plugin might call themselves an SEO and sell services, same with a social media strategist, content writers, etc. That is the confusing part, businesses don't really know what SEO is and have no idea how to price match. Good, comprehensive SEO services will always be in demand because of the high ROI it brings once it starts working. The hard part is explaining to a business owner the difference between $300 a month SEO and 3K a month SEO. To respond to your comment, Google makes changes all the time, a good SEO person/company learns to ride the waves and accept them as part of your job.

It all depends on how businesses see SEO and whether organic results take a hard knock with paid ads being more prominent. If this happens, the uptake of SEO services might drop. However, only time will tell, but I think they will stay relatively stable.

I think it shouldn't change. SEO never meant to be about bookmarking, directory submission or other spamming stuff. It was always about website optimization, content marketing and contribution. SEO was never meant to worth just $200.

Gary: How to set a price on organic SEO activities?

Hi Martin, I just left a comment on this. Every client, industry, market is different, which is why SEO pricing is different. There are too many variables to put a price tag on it before evaluating. It's like saying 30K is too much to pay for a car without first finding out what kind of car it is.

Things I look at when setting pricing is the industry, the competition, how difficult it will be to achieve the goals the client has and the potential payoff for a successful campaign.
