Yeah. There is always a balance to be struck between adding richness of experience and the speed of the page. Pictures, videos, animations. They are all a bit of a balancing act. In some ways it is good that the load time forces us to consider "How much value does this thing I put in actually add?".

Very valuable advice. I wasn't aware that flash had so many implications and repercussions. That being said, once I used a flash image on one of my posts. I didn't realize til I looked how many bytes it was taking up. It made the webpage take about ten seconds to open...way too long. I removed it and it opened in about a second and a half.
