Web users today are becoming more impatient when waiting for web pages to load. Back in 1999, the ‘8 second rule’ surfaced, based on the assumption that web users would give up on a site if it takes more than 8 seconds to load. Today, expectations are much higher and visitors will leave after a couple of seconds. See good and bad examples here.
