Duplicate content on a website is when you have two different URLS (example1.com and example2.com) that have, word for word, the same content on each page. It is also possible to have duplicate content on two (or multiple) different websites as well. This usually happens when a spam blog plagiarizes the original author and reposts the content without crediting the source. The search engines frown on duplicate content, and if you site gets flagged for having it, there can be serious consequences on your SEO.
