Link building as part of a B2B SEO program has evolved over the years. Inbound links pointing to a site are what help to convey trust to the search engines. If a site has a link from an outside source, it means that the site is trusted by that source. In the early days of SEO the focus was on the number of links as the search engines weren’t initially sophisticated enough to determine the quality of the link. However, the search engines continue to improve upon their algorithm and link quality is what now matters the most. Instead of focusing on “link building”, B2B marketers should really be thinking about “link achieving”.
