I thought it was funny that Andrea advised us to offer her chocolate. I actually always have diet chocolate (that actually tastes good) with me everywhere I go and end up offering it to people that I meet - LOL. I think that networking is all about being authentic and not attempting to manipulate anyone. People can smell a faker from miles away. It's very awkward to be around someone who is only talking to you because they want something out of it. Being real always gets you far.

I don't know John Hall, but I liked his suggestion best: give first. It is easy to make connections online prior to the event by following, sharing and commenting on what the influencers you most want to meet do online.
