If someone were looking for a great Thai restaurant in their neighborhood, which do you think would be a more appropriate search phrase—“Thai restaurant” or “Boston, MA Thai restaurant?” Hopefully you would use the second search phrase because you know that if you just typed in “Thai restaurant,” you might end up with businesses in San Francisco or Washington D.C. or Dallas—none of which are very close to your Boston home. Local SEO takes the same SEO process used to develop a national SEO campaign, and then whittles down the focus to the local market.

I've yet to find a local eatery that had it's own online presence (not counting chains). All I see are scores of questionable review sites guessing about what's involved - menus, #employees, hours, etc.,- all stuffed w/reviews that're even more questionable (i.e. did the 'reviewers' ever eat there - are they even in the same state?).
