Bonfire Buzz: Better Business Blogging Tips
"Hi there, Blogging is one of those mediums that often boggle people who don’t blog. I liked the way you’ve broken this post into relevant sections. You’re super right, you need hard work and determination. Often times, you think why am I doing all this and then someone comments or calls you and make it all worthwhile. Blogging is a great marketing tool. Thanks for your article which I found out about initially on bizsugar.com. Take care, Denise "Are We Speaking The Customer's Language?
"Hi Dave, What a good article. I think in terms of speaking the same language, regardless of what industry you are in, you must first listen so that you can hear what the customer is saying and begin to use that language. I do a lot of copywriting for clients as well as teach business writing and it's the first thing that I say - find out what language your reader wants to read. It's actually in the first chapter of my 31 days to write better copy book aswell. I think it's so important. You're spot on about the credibility factor. Isn't it amazing how two words which describe the same concept can blow a person's credibility or at least dent it? This is what happens so SMEs or SMBs really need to understand that. Loved your analogy at the beginning. Thanks Dave for the article. Take care, Denise"Why You Don't Need a Suit and Tie to be in Business Anymore
"Hi there, Good article about working from home. One thing that I'd like to add is self discipline. While I loved your point about motivation, I think discipline is a key concept that should be considered. I love working in the home office because I'm away from distractions. I put my head down and work and work and work. But in the past, when I've been less than busy, I've been open to distraction. So you really must manage your time. And it's important to manage what other people think of your time - some people think that you're not 'working' when you're not in an office so can pop by for coffee. While that's good, it needs to be on your time, not theirs. Just some words of advice from my telecommuting experience. Take care, Denise"Email Design Tips from the Good Ol’ Fashioned Letter
"Hi Crystal, What a timely article. I was interviewed today on radio about email etiquette and one of the questions that I was asked was about the value of the PS or post script. I said that it is a great little tool and is the second most read item on a letter. So your article validates my opinion which is great and your examples are fantastic, I wish I had read them before the interview!. I love the way you combine postal mail with email; after all they are two forms of communication that are very similar. I grieve the end of postal mail - I used to love getting letters in the post. The opening of the envelope, taking out the folded pieces of paper. I'm all nostalgic now! Lovely article - I wasn't aware of the term Johnson Box and yet I used it my own ezines last year. I'll test a bit more in my next email. Thanks for a really useful article. Take care Denise"Which of these 10 Entrepreneurial Styles is Yours? [Infographic]
"Hi there, I love this infographic. I think it's clever, witty and a great accolade to the entrepreneurial spirit. I recognise some of my self employed friends and colleagues in practically each description. However, I'm not sure which one I fit into it though. I can honestly say that at times I am a Pajamapreneur. There is nothing quite like staying at home in the home office and working with no distractions, wearing comfortable clothes and slippers! On a serious note, the statistics are great, really useful. And for all the entrepreneurs who have given 9.9 billion uncompensated hours, I applaud you. I've added to that pot myself so pat on the back for everyone. Great, great infographic. Thanks so much for sharing as I missed it on bizsugar.com. "Good information re video marketing becoming a vital part of the marketing mix. It's something that I want to do in 2012 myself. But my question is this: How do you get started? If production values are important, does that mean that really you should go into a studio and do your videos there? Rather than use your home computer or camera to shoot small videos? That's my dilemma at the moment and it's stopping me from getting started. Any advice? Thanks Denise"Netnography – The Missing Ingredient in your Marketing Research Efforts
"Hi Marsha, This is an article that appeals to my theoretical self. I'm not a market researcher by any means but I do know (and teach) about the principles of research. I love the way you've (or is it Robert?)taken the traditional steps of the market research process and applied to it the Internet. My main concern with step three and four is that of bias. The person analysing the data or observing the interaction in a social media group will have to 'control' their bias while similarly, one network could be dominated by extremely vocal people while the less vocal people's response may not be included. But I'm sure that this is included within the research process of netnography. It's great to see some of the marketing academic theory being revised in accordance with the new marketing tactics that are alive and well in today's marketplace. Thanks for your wonderful article and sharing it on bizsugar.com Take care, Denise "Business Insurance Policies to Consider
"Hi there, What a great list. It's always a great to have a complete list of insurance that a business owner should know. With so many home businesses, it's important for them to know that they should get business insurance and not simply rely on their home insurance. Thanks for sharing on bizsugar.com. "Subscribe
