Would you believe that sending out a resume on spec was the way I got my first job? I saw that a company was hiring IT Graduates so I sent my CV looking for a business/marketing job. It got the attention of the MD.

So your article caught my eye. I particularly like your idea about checking out other references. I must bear that in mind for the future.

Good advice when considering hiring younger recent grads, but I think adult students need to be evaluated on different criteria, like what work or activities they were doing while enrolled, and why they chose to study later on, etc. However, it's important to not be age-ist either way.
