| I've been reading quite a lot of articles recently Jenny and I can honestly say that the manners which you describe are in short supply. My grandmother and mum will always say that it costs nothing to be nice. A simple thank you, or a little thought like you say in your third point - these cost nothing. And while I sometimes disagree with someone and even if I think they are an idiot, I will never say it. It's better to be the bigger person really for all concerned. I don't know why people are hurtful in the comments they leave on SM sites. Thanks for the lovely reminder. | Hi Amanda, What really useful tips you have. I've thought about copying or scraping but that's as much as I've done. Thought about it. I'm going to now re-look at doing something about it. Thanks for these tips. Something that all of us bloggers should be aware of. You've given me the kick start that I need. | Great review, Rachel, and a pleasure to finally see your face and hear your voice on video. This camera sounds comparably priced with various hand held video cameras and I'm wondering if it's your use of the camera primarily for Web conferences that caused you to go with a Webcam instead. | HeatherStone | Tech Review: Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 | 8 days |
| Jenny, I've always liked mixing a little humor in everything I do. That said, you'll find a lot of people recommend against it. In the end, I think the reluctance comes from how subjective humor is and the reality that you might say something your audience won't find funny...or might even find offensive. Bottom line? Know your audience...or customers or whatever. It's just really important to know who you're talking to and how they're likely to react to what you say. | HeatherStone | What Role Should Humor Play in Your Social Media Strategy? | 8 days |
| Tom, Thanks for sharing the post. I think Steve's views on this subject are pretty well known. Though he kind of says this already, I'd like to reiterate that, for a seller, sites like Etsy and Ebay still seem like good places to get started if for no other reason than the tremendous traffic already there. Building an audience for your own site is tough work and much easier once you've already got a following and customer base. For the same reason it's a good idea for beginning bloggers to guest post on other people's sites and have a presence in social media besides their own blog, it's a good idea for budding e-commerce retailers to include sites like Etsy and Ebay as places to build a serious following for their products. | HeatherStone | Why Etsy Users Should Also Start Their Own Website | 8 days |
| Interesting post, Janette. I wonder how you feel about the opinion in some quarters that Google+ has stalled a bit after its initial growth spurt at least as compared to its monstrous Facebook rival. Add to that Facebook's renewed focus on encouraging business use, it would seem a very difficult adversary to overcome, at least in the short term, despite Google+ support from people like Chris Brogan. | HeatherStone | The Business of Doing Business on Google+ | 8 days |
| Thanks for sharing this great post. Content scraping is a reality most online businesses must deal with and considering the time and effort invested in decent content creation it is especially disheartening. Any techniques that can help stem the tide will always be welcome by the online business community and I hope this content receives wide readership as a result. | Small Business Manifesto | How to Make Sure Your Content Doesn’t Get Scraped | 8 days |

| Hi Dan, Thanks for the review. All 10 laws are probably good to remember when setting up a Website, but, I think my favorite would have to be number one. It's amazing to me how some businesses give so very little even though they expect so much from customers. And on the Internet, of course, this attitude is positively fatal. What advice would you give small business owners when it comes to using this first law in their Web presence? | HeatherStone | Selling online with the 10 laws of persuasion – A Website Designer | 8 days |

| Hi there, Great post. I can't help thinking that you are covering the subject of marketing rather than just focusing on your customers. But then again, the two are so entwined, aren't they? Indeed customers are where marketing should start - understanding who your customers are, how they buy and how can you influence them to purchase with you rather than your competitors. Once you know this, the communication element becomes easier. Getting good at marketing, in it's entirety, is the single best way to grow a business. Thanks for your article.
