| I hear a lot of complaining about the Penguin updates, however when you dig deeper you usually find the folks complaining have engaged in some questionable SEO. I've been looking over a lot of Google's policies recently, and to me, most of what they want us to do is just be good bloggers. However, the inbound link issue does concern me, because there is no way to control who links to your pages. Sure, you can ask them not to link, but they can just say "no" or even ask you for money to remove the links. It opens up a whole 'nother can of worms. | Not sure these indications are necessarily bad. It would be nice to see more economic growth, but small businesses may simply be taking a more cautious approach to growth reflecting a more conservative attitude about credit. | That's a great question Heather! Personally, I put the intro to my own blog content in my weekly newsletter with a link back to my site to read the rest. This lets me use the same content in two ways: 1) A Blog Post: I would definitely prioritize a blog as it greatly helps your inbound marketing efforts by increasing the odds that you will be listed in search engine results. This results in "cold leads", folks coming to your site because they found you during a search. 2) A newsletter: Once folks discover you through search engines however, a newsletter is a great way to keep providing value as well as being a way to keep you "top-of-mind" even if they do not need your products and services at that time. Once they sign-up as a subscriber, they are a "warm" lead, one to whom you can send offers and deals and announce new products and services.
