Hi Andreea, What a great article. Full of information for a newbie to Pinterest like myself. It’s always good to know the fine print but so few take the time to read it so great that you did. I nearly panicked when I read your point about getting permission re photos. I saw a beautiful pair of Valentino shoes and that was my first pin. But I don’t think Valentino will come after me so panic over! I’m heading over to Pinterest to follow you now. Thanks for putting your article on bizsugar.com as that’s how I found you! Steve, Love the idea of a portable brand, and that's really what we're doing with social media everyday (and with most other kinds of effective marketing, I guess.) Still beats loading your customers in a van and bringing them to your business, though.:) Nice insights! Clever post Jenny. One thing I would say is that using tongue in cheek humour with someone you don't know can come across as rudeness sometimes - it has happened to me a couple of times. With social media people often think they know you if they have tweeted once or twice. I have received tweets that if a close friend had said I would have taken as a joke but because it was said by someone I didn't know or even follow they came across as rude. I believe it should go without saying that an employee should not post anything detrimental to the company they work for. They should consider it the same as taking an advert in the newspaper slagging off their employers - not advised. Time can certainly be wasted during working hours on Social Media so that should be curtailed if possible - difficult in this day an age though. Bravo! I wish more people would say this about blogging, because churning out flat content (even if it *is* 3-4-5 times a week) won't get a blogger so far in the long run. But quality (and passion) certainly will. PS How can one be "as sure as eggs?" Adam_Gottlieb Is Blogging Sucking The Life Out Of You? 10 days

This is the crucial connection between online and offline connections and relationships, regardless of where they happen first. Great post Niall, and an absolute testament to how you combine and nurture both. You are a supreme example of how it is done so well, and I truly believe the success of TYB and its growing respectful community is primarily down to your approach, attitude and communication style. I have noticed a growth in online communities that are meeting more offline also. I believe this is the acceptance and realisation that one builds on the other, and they are not mutually exclusive, but mutually interdependent. Space needs to be made for both! And I thoroughly enjoy and get great personal and professional benefit from both. elainerogers Build An Old Fashioned Business Community, But Do It Online! 10 days
Joel, they're letting it happen because they've lost sight of their bread and butter core. They're trying to be all things to all people, to compete with the slow food movement, new nutrition, other franchises--even Starbucks, and very good publicity on their very scary food safety/nutrition practices. They should keep it simple, for those who will still eat the pink slime burgers and like them. No offense if you eat there. But isn't the problem that they're getting too unfocused, spreading their concept too thin? What do you think? HeatherStone How The Heck Can McDonald's Let This Happen? 10 days
