From a very young age, I knew I wanted to be a mom. In fact, every year in my School Days Keepsake Album, it would ask the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” And while I had no clue what I wanted to do professionally, I did know that I wanted to be a mom.
As I got older and thought more about becoming a parent, I knew that I wanted to be my child’s primary caregiver. Maybe it was because my mom had stayed at home with my siblings and me. Or maybe it was the fact that I didn’t like working as a nurse. Whatever the case when I got pregnant, I started planning for my transition out of the workforce.
