There is a widespread belief, that startups today are hype! Well, actually, they are not! Usually they are dirty, crowded with “child diseases” and create a large amount of stress to its originators!

Takis: Thanks for the book tip. It is funny you mention Blue Ocean Strategy. It is mentioned in my review of Sharkonomics. Stefan Engeseth owns the domain, Red Ocean Strategy! ;)

That it is a very typical example of synchronicity then (Carl Jung style)! Thank you Lyceum for the Sharkonomics reference. I will check it!

Takis: Yes, it is time for adaption for everyone, otherwise you end up as "shark food". Have you read Sharkonomics by Stefan Engeseth? Stefan has become a good friend of mine, and I wrote a review of his book on Small Business Trends in 2013.

No Lyceum, I had not the pleasure. But I will check it for sure! In the mean time 2 more book additions I can offer (if you do not read them, of course) is the "Thriving on Chaos" (Tom Peters) and the The Third Wave by Alvin Toffler! Furthermore, I would add schemes as the blue ocean strategy (https://www.blueoceanstrategy.com/) can provide alternatives when non is working!

Takis: Thanks for your report. I wonder what happened with MSNBC / MSN? It is interesting how AOL has become both a mainstream and new media player.

Hi Lyceum, I don not know about the MSNBC / MSN case but for AOL it is simple. It is adapted to new tech, diversify its "products", adopt new schemes and adapted to the conditions and market's requirements! It is a time for change, and for adaptation for everyone, I think!

Takis: Thanks for your input. Is CNN doing progress? Have this mainstream media outlet, embraced new media? My main source for news is The Economist.

Hi Lyceum! CNN doing progress as far as its media policy concerns. It had embraced the new media and make significant business from it! It is a classical example of a traditional based industry (TV-broadcast) moving to the new media area (blogs, podcasts, video-on-demand, etc.)

Takis: Thanks for the explanation! Could you mention some companies that were established through a primordial mud process.

Apple, Yahoo, AOL, were from the first, Google and Microsoft followed! It is different to be good at the medium Lyceum and different to make a business out of it! Check CNN progress but in another field virgin records (and airlines). Just some thoughts, because new it is the beginning of some new business paradigms (Kuhn's definition) shifts!

Takis: What's the "primordial mud" of the Internet? ;)

"Primordial Mud" of the Internet was all the first thought and executed "business models" to turn a new media to a business, Lyceum. Thank you for asking!
