Games can teach a number of life skills, and the next generation of employees is spending a lot of time gaming. In fact, by the time an average gamer has reached the age of 21, they will have spent 10,000 hours in front of the screen. In Malcolm Gladwell’s book on success, Outliers, that’s the amount of time it takes to become a virtuoso in any area. But what are gamers good at, and how does that apply to the workplace?

I know of a few. Moz, and SEO company in Seattle is a good example. Besides the big ones, I know this is popular with startups, especially in the early stages. Some come and go, but the developers of BookLamp, here in Boise, before it was sold to Apple, applied gaming in their workplace, and obviously were quite successful.

Troy: Welcome to BizSugar! It is interesting to see the positive effects of the gamification trend? Do you know about some small business companies that have applied gaming in their workplaces?
