People WANT to work for a higher purpose. No one really wants to sell half of their waking hours simply for a paycheck. If we, as managers, can help people see the point of their work, not only will they work smarter, they will work with more meaning -- which is one of the things we all want from life. Of course, we as managers, have to KNOW the point of the work, if we are going to help others see it.
