I recently spoke to Claire Dalton of Dungarvan Brewing Company which is a relatively new company started in a recession and proving to be very successful.

Sian,

I read somewhere that companies founded during a recession tend to be stronger no matter what the economic climate because they have a unique approach to managing resources imprinted on their company DNA. I wonder if you detected anything like that at the Dungarvan Brewing Company that other business owners could emulate.

Hi Sian,

I think a conservative bootstrap approach with emphasis on careful monitoring of cash flow is something all these companies share in common...and should be a mark of any successful business, for that matter.

Thanks for the comment Heather. From what I saw at Dungarvan Brewing Company they have taken everything in small steps and only spending within their means. They started on a small scale and have added as they go to suit their budget. Seems like they don't take anything for granted maybe
