LinkedIn is quite possibly one of the strongest online business tools available today. And so, I am constantly surprised when I find out people aren’t using it or barely using it. Here’s the truth: We live in an online world and if you’re in business you need to be on LinkedIn.

I'm not the type that uses linkedin and google+, i guess it because their platform is not user friendly. I'll give it a shot and see what it has to offer

Fortunately, LinkedIn has done a lot to improve their interface and make it more "user friendly" - ie. more like Facebook. I hope you find it easier to use now and find some value in using it for growing your network.

Hello Jenn, I'm also among those people who barely use Linkedin although, I've heard lots of interesting things about it just like what you wrote here but, I always find it difficult to keep up with. I guess I have to give it some serious shots this time. Thanks for sharing this with the bizsugar community.

Hi Val! The great thing about LI is that it isn't a social media site like the other ones. You really don't need to worry about "keeping up" with anything. Just logging on a few times a week (even if only for 5-10 minutes) to see if you have new connections or messages. Also, signing up for groups is a great way to engage. You can choose one article a week to comment on and then just stay up to speed on the other comments. Also, if you're connected to people on other sites (Twitter, etc.) send a connection request on LI. It takes only a couple minutes to add 2-5 connections per week. I get a lot out of LI but I really don't spend a lot of time on it.

Excellent points, Jenn! It amazes me how many people aren’t effectively leveraging LI. I need to do a better job in the groups myself; thanks for the tip/reminder that I need to bump that up on my priority list.

Thanks Angela. I am shocked at how many people don't use it at all, let alone effectively! But the good news is that you are using it! Spending just a few more minutes every day (or even just a few days a week) on the site is all it takes to see big results.
