For me, I don't think it's a matter of 'will they', but a matter of when. It's something I feel they're already doing anyway.

It's a shame, and is indeed sad, but I really don't see Facebook doing something about it. By the looks of it, money matters to them more than the impact their move has had and is having on some small businesses.

@Ebele some definitely are paying. But I was sad to hear about a local farm that is no longer getting the engagement she used to get through her Facebook page. She is, honestly, not that marketing or computer savvy, but the drop off was dramatically clear to her. And it is not in her budget to start paying to promote her posts.

@Lyceum I do agree, that creating your own hub is key. And marketing is never free, if you don't pay with money, you pay with time. We always recommend our clients house all their key content on their own web site, usually in a WordPress-based blog.
