Ileane: Thank your very much for the link to Ana Hoffman's post. I will mention this to my business partner for a new online venture. It could be handy to use in the future.

Ileane: Thanks for the tip. I will check out Mike All ton's post.

I have heard about services that could generate affiliate revenue with a shortener URL, but I can't remember it at the moment. I used a service called Referly in the past.

It's important to keep track of your website progress to see what's selling and what's not.

That's so true Ti. It's a good way to decide what to spend time on and what to ditch!

Martin. Bitly also gives you the option to use bitly dot com or set up your own custom domain. I've use bitly links since I started blogging back in 2009 and never had any issue with the .ly links.

Ileane: Good for your. Here is a news article some years back:

Btw: Do you know how to set up your own short URL service for you sites?

Do you know if there are some services for affiliate marketers?

I haven't used bit.ly for some time. Did you know that .Li is Libya? I know that Bit.ly has servers in the U.S. and Europe, but it is a risk factor to have a service places in unsafe area.

Have you been using Google's shortening service, Goo.gl, located in Greenland?

Martin,

I don't have a post on using a custom URL but I know that Mike Allton from The Social Media Hat has one.

IMO those custom URL's are harder to remember and do very little for branding. Although I'm sure most bloggers will disagree. It's much easier to remember bitly than some abbreviated version of a domain. Whenever I see those custom links I have NO IDEA what blog they belong to.

Affiliate marketers can use bitly the same way as anyone else. I'm not sure what additional services they would need. What were you thinking?
