I've said it before and I'll say it again. One of the first businesses I started, a professional blogging and social media services company, was launched 100 percent with connections made through LinkedIn. It was the first of the latest generation of social networking sites I was actively involved in. (The first social sites I used to drive traffic to my Websites were the old MySpace and MyBlogLog, a very early proto-social site later bought and shut down by Yahoo!, but these were not truly networking sites.) I used LinkedIn groups to connect with my first clients and to launch my guest posting efforts on other blogs. LinkedIn has changed a lot since then but it remains a very robust network that I always recommend to anyone seriously interested in social networking. Thanks for the overview!
