Is Facebook “broken on purpose” to sell promoted posts?

In recent months, some Facebook page owners have noticed that their accounts are driving much less traffic to their websites than they used to. In some cases, Facebook clickthroughs are down by as much as half, despite a huge growth in likes.

Teepu: Facebook is a social network (have you seen the movie, The Social Network?) and the management is looking for a way of earning revenue. Ads and promoting post could become successful if you do it in an non-intrusive way so the online place will continue to be a social network...

One of the main reasons I log into Facebook is to PM my family and friends and of course to be updated what my friends are doing now and then , what events they have attended . In short for social connections. Now, FB seems to be overcrowded already and it annoys me sometimes. Now , it is a social network and an advertising platform.
