It is interesting how my cross-cultural business background has helped me adapt social media for my business. It's really about keeping a business focus in an environment that you are not familiar with and expecting that you'll get things wrong first time around. So planning to be flexible and reactive...
I'm also amazed by the number of people who bring personal baggage into their social media tactics (and losing or diluting their business focus) without realizing it.

Very thoughtful post. I will have great use of it in my new role as a social media specialist & business intelligence analyst at a new start-up company.
