David: Yes, improved SEO and search page rank could be an indirect consequence of using Google+ as it is so linked together with Google search engine.

Depends on the client. Most see limited actual results, but I've done surveys and have found there is a lot of public resistance to Google+. Then I have clients you have tonnes of sharing, +1's and followers. Like with all social media, it depends on your target audience.

But the one result I do see, is that SEO and search page rank is improved. And we all know how important being found on Google is...

Google+ is not dead, but it has so called pivoted. I update Google+ several times during the week. How often do you do updates? How many small business owners are actively using Google+ on a daily basis?

Not many use Google+ on a weekly basis, but it is central to so many of my client's campaigns. That is why I use it, nearly every single day. My own blogs are posted there all the time.
