Again I think this depends on how you are using your Facebook account. Are you maintaining an account to stay connected with friends and family? Are you doing so to connect with work associates, possible partners or other people in your industry? Are you doing so to promote your business? Ultimately, connections are certainly about quality over quantity. But quality is relative based on the kinds of relationships you are seeking to maintain.

I would say it is a wise decision to cut the number of Facebook friends that you have. I cut my Twitter following count from 2000+ to a mere 80+ to help me focus better on individuals that matter. I will move my efforts over to Facebook soon and the fact that both these platforms offer List or categorization functionality, which is very handy for contacts management.
