Most bloggers and online marketers use press release to create traffic on their sites. The biggest advantage a press release could give to your website is drive traffic because a lot of people are interested in reading press release and when they are intrigued, they will explore some more and click the links towards your other websites or blogs.

Anybody who is worried about Google's duplicate content penalty but still wants the information to appear on their site can use the 'noindex' tag on the press release page and block it from the sitemap.xml. They could also block the press release section of the site on the robots.txt file. We typically just 'noindex' duplicate content intended for wide distribution.
