The inevitable question, and one that we hear debated frequently, is how quickly should you respond to comments and posts on social media?

Jenn: Do you have examples of companies that are good at responding in a time manner? I know that British Airways has something to learn...

There are a lot of brands that are quick to respond. A couple of my favorites are Kia, Honda, and Samsung Mobile US. I've also heard that Nike, JetBlue, Zappos and UPS are good as well. I'm sure there are a lot of other ones out there though too.

Great post. I thin that responding to comments should be a priority for most bloggers. Especially if their goal is to build a community drive blog and business. However, it think that it's okay to take on average 3 days to respond back to comment. Although, I try to respond to most of mine within 24 hours.

Thanks Ti! I agree, for blogging, it's imperative to respond to comments. People have taken the time to read AND comment on your post so you need to take the time to respond, even if it's only a thank you.

And, I think the sooner the better, but on blogs, an extra day isn't detrimental. Social media, however, taking more than 24 hours to respond can be disastrous.

How about "yesterday"?! ;) The best thing with notification is that your could turn them on / off. You don't have any duty to respond at once. Answer in due time. If you have to think about your answer, you could send out a quick tweet or short comment, saying: "I will be back to you..."

Thanks Martin. And, yes, you bring up a great point. If you can't respond completely, a short note saying you'll get back to them let's them know that you heard them and that you care enough to answer them properly.

Great point to turn off notifications while working on projects. You can be more productive that way Jenn for sure.

Thanks Lisa! I'm glad you found that to be a useful tip.
