Social networking has been alive much longer than most people realize. Beginning with simple emails, it has evolved into a creature used as often by big businesses as the common person. It is everywhere, even in space, and it will continue to grow progressively if it follows its current patterns.

Thanks for your comment Lyceum. I think Google+ is just catching momentum, and Facebook will surely not allow to be swept off its throne that easily. I do hope your prediction about niche networks comes true though. I think the emerging trend of intimate and connection-based social platforms is exactly what our society needs.

The evolution will continue with the power of the 6 degrees (pixels) of separation. My guess is that you will see the big players around for a long time, e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and then new niche network will thrive, maybe Medium, Path or Jelly?
