For some, it's not enough to understand How to do something - we need to understand Why. Here is both the How and the Why of formatting Google+ posts.

Great share... what I love about Google + is that the thumbnail of your status update is a Dofollow link. Thnx for sharing.

Peace!!

whatever the format and content ...the fact is G+ can't be ignored

That's very true. Google+ has pretty much passed every social network save for Facebook in terms of numbers of users and active users, so at this point, Google+ simply IS active, and cannot be ignored.

Hi Mike,

It's interesting to think about this from a formatting perspective as opposed to, say, just mentioning what to include in a Google Plus post. When we think about formatting in traditional documents, we would usually be talking about maybe the difference between, say, something written like a research paper and something written like a screenplay. But it seems to me there is another consideration here, which is: if everyone uses a similar format, can they really stand out? Wonder if you have any thoughts on this. Love to read them in the BizSugar comment section.

That's a great observation Heather, and one of the reasons why I still vary my posts, and suggest others do as well. If *every* post looked the same, none would stand out - at least that's the theory.

For my own part, I reserve the full treatment of bold titles, paragraphs, hashtags, etc. for the articles I really want to get attention to - typically my new blog posts and one or two others a day from other people. Other posts I may do simple shares because I'm on mobile and don't have time to write much more, or because I'm passing along information that doesn't need any introduction.

What do you do?

Thanks!
